Hello! Hallo! Caio! Bonjour! Hola! Namaste! Konnichiwa! Habari!
Thanks for visiting my website!
I’m Robyn Taatjes. Recent transplant to Germany and an avid traveler.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved traveling and experiencing new cultures. I mean, what isn’t great about learning about new people, languages, and cuisine?
Originally from The Bronx, New York, my early life was spent hearing various languages while walking to the park, which peaked my interest in cultures. Being a child in such a diverse environment allowed me to try different kinds of cuisine and to be introduced to what others may never be introduced to first-hand. A simple ride on the subway was like stepping inside a globe. After moving to Pennsylvania when I was 10, I saw that not everywhere is as diverse as The Bronx, which is OK. However, this seeming lack of diversity only fueled my wanderlust more, making me want to travel to new places any opportunity I could.
I’ve been traveling to Europe since I was a small child, as my mother is an immigrant from Ireland to the States. I don’t remember the early trips, and so I decided to take the leap and create memories that I would remember in 2015. Traveling on an airplane by myself was nerve-wracking, to say the least, but thankfully, I had family waiting for me on the other side. The experience was life-changing. Since then, I have visited Ireland, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain. Most recently, I’ve added the Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg to the list.
On this blog, I hope to share my travel experiences, tips for traveling, and of course, some treasures of each location I travel to. I feel that there is nothing greater than experiencing a glimpse into a life other than your own, even if just for a few hours.
